Ingredient research hub

L-Valine

What it is

Valine is an essential amino acid and one of the three BCAAs. It occurs with other amino acids in dietary protein and is supplied in some sports-nutrition mixtures. A BCAA serving does not represent the full range of amino acids in a protein food.

Why people look for it

Use the BCAA hub to place valine alongside leucine and isoleucine before comparing a mixture with complete EAAs.

What research generally looks at

Soreness, muscle-damage markers, and performance are different research outcomes for BCAA mixtures. None automatically establishes an isolated valine benefit.

Important context

Valine is one part of a complete protein profile; the presence of three BCAAs is different from supplying all nine EAAs.
