L-Isoleucine

What it is

Isoleucine is one of the three branched-chain essential amino acids, alongside leucine and valine. Dietary protein supplies it together with other amino acids. Isolated mixtures can supply the BCAA subset without providing the rest of the EAA set.

Why people look for it

The main navigation question is whether you are looking at dietary protein, a BCAA mixture, or a complete EAA format.

What research generally looks at

BCAA studies examine mixtures and particular exercise outcomes. Their findings do not isolate an everyday performance benefit attributable to isoleucine alone.

Important context

Isoleucine in a BCAA mixture does not make that mixture a complete source of all nine EAAs.
