L-Histidine
What it is
Histidine is an essential amino acid found in dietary protein. It belongs to the nine-amino-acid EAA set, outside the branched-chain group. A protein food or a free-amino-acid mixture can supply it, but those formats are nutritionally different.
Why people look for it
Look for histidine when checking whether an EAA blend actually lists all nine essential amino acids.
What research generally looks at
The complete EAA article supplies the research context. It is more informative than assigning a muscle benefit to histidine simply because the ingredient appears on a label.
Important context
Histidine belongs to the complete EAA set, but not to the BCAA subgroup. A BCAA-only label therefore does not cover it.
